PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic transducer by which a series of spatially correlated two-dimensional images can be obtained and an accurate three- dimensional image can be recognized. SOLUTION: A rotatable sensor array 50 is arranged in a housing 25 so as to be connected to a motor 56. The sensor array 50 is actuated so that an ultrasonic wave beam 39 scans on an image plane 18 containing the reference axis 15. Since the sensor array 50 can be optionally rotated by controlling the motor 56 by a switch 23, while resting an acoustic window 42 on the skin of a patient, and while keeping the reference axis 15 constant, the image plane can be rotated, and a series of spatially correlated two-dimensional images can be obtained. |
