PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device having a wide visual field angle, with a small variation in contrast due to a visual angle and a small variation in color hue due to a luminance inversion at a halftone color and usable for various purposes such as the accomplishment of a large-sized screen and the observation by plural users. SOLUTION: The device is composed of a light source 3, a light transmission body 2 provided with at least one incident plane and one going plane which are placed opposite to the light source 3, and a liquid crystal display element 5 arranged on the light transmission body 2. And the outgoing plane of the light transmission body 2 is composed of a rugged surface 4 where a projecting part and a flat part are alternately arranged so as to be parallel to the light source 3, the projection part is composed of two opposed rise-up planes 9 and 10, at least the rise-up plane 9 positioned far away from the light source 3 is provided with an inclined angleαof 50 deg. to 70 deg. against the flat part 11.
