PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate particulate matter from gas flow of very high temperature and very high speed by providing the end face of a filter body with a sheet formed of compressed grain formed of the combustion of unexfoliated graphite and exfoliated flexible graphite. SOLUTION: An annular gasket 1000 is so constituted as to expand at the time of contact with high temperature exhaust gas 80 so as to form gas-tight fire resisting seals at an upper face 53 and a lower face 55 of a filter body 50 and to make the whole exhaust gas pass through the filter body 50. This expansion compensates the thermal expansion of a metal housing 10 and forms a gasket-tight seal. The annular gasket 100 has a compressed inner sheet formed of unexfolicated, intercalated graphite, and this inner sheet is positioned under the condition that it is overlapped between outer sheets formed of compressed and exfoliated flexible graphite.
