PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the hot strength of a magnesia refractory mixed with a calcia/titania-based compound oxide, comprising alumina fine powder, calcia/ titania compound oxide and a magnesia refractory material in a specific weight ratio. SOLUTION: This magnesia refractory mixed with calcia/titania-based compound oxide is obtained by mixing 2-15wt.% of alumina fine powder having about <=10μm particle diameter with 1-15wt.% of a calcia/titania compound oxide having 5-41wt.% of Ca0 content and the rest of a magnesia refractory material. The magnesia refractory is optionally mixed with a binder selected from an alumina cement, a phosphate, silicate, etc., a dispersant, a setting adjustor, etc., and a fixed amount of water. The blend is kneaded and molded into a fixed shape. The molding is dried, heat-treated at about <=600 deg.C into an unburned brick or baked at >=1,400 deg.C into a burned brick to give the objective magnesia refractory mixed with a calcia/titania-based compound oxide containing CaO and TiO2 in the CaO/TiO2 ratio of (5/95)-(41/59) by weight. |
