PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To better a driving feeling and to improve fuel consumption by estimating the driving force, which varies in correspondence to road environment such as whether inclined roads or flat roads on which a vehicle travels, based on road information obtained from a navigation device, and conducting speed change control by using the estimated driving force. SOLUTION: A navigation system controller 1 stores in advance the information on the road on which a vehicle will travel and takes in the information on the present site or the traveling direction of the vehicle, based on the information from a storage means 15 or from a GPS 11 and a gyro-sensor 12. The controller 1 reads out of a reading means 2 the road information from the present site of the vehicle to the target site and estimates by the aid of an estimating means 3 the driving force of the vehicle in the traveling route, corresponding to the road information read out. Comparing the estimated driving force and a fuel consumption map, the controller 1 sets up such a speed change schedule as to minimize the fuel consumption by using a speed change setting means. In addition, the controller 1 changes a control pattern by using a changing means 8. |
