PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a promoter consisting of an essence of shellfish, excellent in absorption-promoting effect for minerals represented by calcium and high in safety, continuously administrable over a long period, thus useful as a medicine. SOLUTION: This promoter consists of an essence of shellfish (pref. Perna canaliculus). The mineral is pref. calcium as object of absorption promotion. This promoter is obtained, pref. by the following process: a dried flesh of Perna canaliculus is ground, and 20l of n-hexane is then added to 2kg of the resultant powder to wash the powder; the washing operation is repeated twice, and 20l of chloroform is added to the washed powder which is then reftuxed for 3h under heating; insolubles are removed from the resultant extract followed by conducting a concentration, etc. |
