PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a selecting a shock by connecting an overrunning clutch when a prescribed lag time has elapsed after a forward clutch was connected, while an advancing vehicle requires an increased of a torque transferring capacity. SOLUTION: An overrunning clutch controlling means 1 puts an overrunning clutch in an unconnected state when a solenoid 64A is turned on, while in a connected state when the solenoid 64A is turned off. In addition, the controlling means 1 inputs an advance range detection signal, which is outputted from a range judging means 3, when a select position sensor 2 detects that the select operation toward an advance range is performed. When a speed ratio of a torque converter is judged to be lower than a prescribed value and moreover the torque transferring capacity is judged to be increasing, a forward clutch is connected first. After waiting an elapse of the time set by a timer 1B, the solenoid 64A is turned off in order to connect the overrunning clutch. |
