PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new crystal presenting electrophotographic properties excellent in sensitivity, cycle stability and environmental stability, and excellent in the dispersibility in binder resin, and to obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor using this new crystal. SOLUTION: This ethoxygallium phthalocyanine crystal has intense diffraction peaks at Bragg's angles (2θ±0.2): of (1) 7.7, 8.1, 16.4, 24.6, 26.2, and 28.2; (2) 7.2, 7.9, 16.6, 18.6, 24.6, and 26.2; (3) 6.2, 8.4, 18.8, 22.4, 25.8, and 26.6; (4) 7.7, 8.4, 16.5, 25.1, and 26.6; or (5) 7.1, 7.6, 13.5, 16.7, 26.8, and 28.3. This crystal is obtained by treating chlorogallium phthalocyanine with a metal ethoxide compound to obtain ethoxygallium phthalocyanine which is then ground together with an organic solvent.
