PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst component, containing a specific transition metallic compound having a group respectively having the cyclopentadienyl and an aromatic heterocyclic skeletons and capable of providing a polyolefin, especially a linear low-density polyethylene having a moderate molecular weight and a high comonomer content. SOLUTION: This catalyst component for (co)polymerizing an olefin (co)polymer is obtained from a transition metallic compound, having respective one or more groups having the dicyclopentadienyl skeleton and an aromatic heterocyclic skeleton and further a transition metallic atom of group III or IV or the lanthanide series of the periodic table of elements M is an atom of group III or IV or the lanthanide series of the periodic table; R<1> and R<2> are each H, a halogen, a 1-20C hydrocarbon, etc.; X is a group XIII to XV atom of the periodic table and at least one of 5×Xs is other than C; Y is H, a halogen or a 1-20C hydrocarbon: (1) and (m) are each 1-3; (n) is 0-2; [(1)+(m)+(n)] is 3 when M is the group III atom or a metal of the lanthanide series and 4 when M is the group IV metal}.
