PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively recognize peptide by selectively recognizing water-soluble peptide molecules by the specific arrangement of peptide chain that has been formed on the surface of the lipid monomolecular film having a hydrophilic head part of a peptide unit. SOLUTION: This is the peptide recognizing method by means of a lipid monomolecular film by which peptide molecules are selectively recognized by the specific arrangement of peptide chain that has been formed on the surface of the lipid monomolecular film having a hydrophilic head part of a peptide unit. This lipid monomolecular film can be transferred by an arbitrary amount onto a solid base from the water surface by means of the Langmuir-Blodgett's method. Accordingly, the peptide molecules bonded on the surface of the monomolecular film can be selectively fixed on the solid base. As the lipid having monomolecular film forming capacity, the hydrophobic chain that is excellent in orientation and has nonsolubility to water is used. For instance, lipid molecules having long chains such as monoalkyl, dialkyl, trialkyl and having a hydrophilic head part of aligopeptide chain that has a proper hydrophilic property can be given.
