PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument panel indicator which is economical and simple in structure with relatively high optical output intensity and lighting uniformity of an entire assembly and a relatively small size. SOLUTION: An instrument panel indicator includes an activator 7 with a needle 12, a front face of the instrument panel having indicator dials 13, 14, and a light emitting means for lighting the needle 12 and the dials 13, 14. The light emitting means comprises SMC LEDs 9, 10. The LEDs 9, 10, the front face 2 and the needle 12 are placed so that the front face 2 mainly functions as an optical path of the dials 13, 14 and it sheds light to the needle 12 subsidiarily. This is preferred in applying to an instrument panel for an automobile. |
