PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell and its fastening method which can be embodied while the configuration remains simple and can reduce the ion conduction resistance of a solid highpolymer electrolytic film itself and also the ion conduction resistance and contact resistance between the electrolytic film and an electrode plate. SOLUTION: A first separator 16 made of a dense substance is fitted in a hole 24 furnished in a second separator 18 made of dense substance, and a chamber 25 is partitioned by the first and second separators 16, 18 and filled with a filler 83. The first separator 16 is pressed toward a solid highpolymer electrolytic film 60 by the pressure of water introduced to the chamber 25 and is moistened with water and swollen. At the same time, the filler 83 in the chamber 25 will moisten and swell. This moistening/swelling effect increases the pressing force for cells of the fuel cell and strengthens the tightening force for the stack of the cells. Through moistening and swelling, the internal resistance of the electrolytic film 60 reduces, and also the ion conduction resistance between the film 60 and the first separator 16 is reduced along with the reduction of the contact resistance for electron conduction. |
