PURPOSE: To surely detect an inferior cell by generating electricity by supplying fuel gas mixed with an electricity generating function deteriorating material to a block composed of one or a plurality of cells and detecting change in electricity generating situation. CONSTITUTION: An oxygen-containing gas in a supply pipe 15 and an electricity generating function deteriorating material in a supply pipe 22 are supplied to a supply pipe 12 through proportional valves 23, 24 while the concentration of the electricity generating function deteriorating material being changed in order to generate electricity in a block T composed of one or a plurality of cells. The change in output electricity of the block T is measured, the difference of the output electricity of the block T when the addition concentration of the electricity generating function deteriorating material is changed from 1 to 5% is calculated, and the block T where the difference is found to be a set value or higher is judged to be a failure block. Also, a fuel gas in a flowing path 14 and an electricity generating function deteriorating material in a flowing path 18 are supplied to a supply pipe 10 through proportional valves 19, 20 while the concentration of the electricity generating function deteriorating material being changed from 10 to 50ppm to generate electricity in the block T, the difference of the output electricity in the block T is calculated, and the block T where the difference is found to be a set value or higher is judged to be a failure block. |
