PURPOSE: To lessen effect and remarkably lower a cost necessary to manufacture an electrode by shortening an actual heat treatment time for a catalytic layer while keeping effect of heat treatment on the catalytic layer equal to or higher than that of a conventional method. CONSTITUTION: In manufacture of an electrode of a phosphate fuel cell consisting of a catalytic layer 1 which is formed by forming a mixture of a catalyst and fluororesin into a sheet and accelerates an electrochemical reaction and a carbon plate 2 to support the catalytic layer 1: while being coiled on a second roll 72, the catalytic layer 1 coiled on a first roll 71 installed in the inlet side of a furnace 5 is thermally treated at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed time in the furnace 5 between rolls 71, 72. After this, the thermally treated catalytic layer 1 is shaped into a prescribe size and the shaped catalytic layer is press-bonded to a carbon plate 2 which is shaped into a prescribed size. |
