PURPOSE: To improve the reliability and safety of household electric products by using remaining bits excluding a parity bit as a data value within a valid range set beforehand and judging a parity check error and a valid range error. CONSTITUTION: This system is provided with a microcomputer 1 and a serial type nonvolatile memory element 2 and the parity bit is provided in data transmitted and received between the microcomputer 1 and the serial type nonvolatile memory element 2. The other remaining bits excluding the parity bit in the data are used as a setting data value. Then, the remaining bits excluding the parity bit are used as the data value within the valid range set beforehand and the parity check error and the valid range check error are judged. Thus, by the action of parity, the generation of abnormality in the data is discriminated.
