PURPOSE: To decode a signal having provision for a video image before telecine transformation by reproducing a video signal corresponding to a video image of a film source from an interlace scanning video signal after an undesired field is eliminated. CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with a filed memory 101 and a subtractor 102 as a differential value calculation means calculating a difference for each field from video data of a video source, and a desision circuit 103 as a pattern detection means detecting a prescribed pattern P of video data of the video source, with a CPU 104, a 1st field memory 111 and a 2nd field memory 112 as a field elimination means eliminating an undesired filed from the video data of the video source, and with a digital filter 113 as a reproduction means reproducing a video signal corresponding to the video image of a frame of the film source from the video data from which the undesired field is eliminated. |
