PURPOSE: To provide a color filter having high reliability at a low cost by applying a pretreating liquid which can dissolve an ink-accepting layer in the part which is to be colored in the ink-accepting layer on a substrate and then applying the ink of a specified color. CONSTITUTION: Such a resin compsn. layer (ink-accepting layer) 3 that when the layer is irradiated with light or irradiated with light and heat treated, the absorptivity for ink in the irradiated part can be increased is formed by spin coating method or the like on a glass substrate 1 where a black matrix 2 is formed. The part of the layer 3 which is not shielded by the black matrix 2 is exposed for patterning to be changed to have affinity to ink. A pretreating liquid 27 which dissolves the part 26 having affinity with ink and having relatively high absorptivity for ink in the ink-accepting layer 3 is applied by dipping or the like. Then inks 28 of R, G, B colors are applied by ink-jet method to color the layer. Then the colored coating material is hardened by the irradiation of light and/or heat treatment. If necessary, a protective layer 29 is formed. |
