PURPOSE: To improve the recording density by the induction and MR type hybrid magnetic head, wherein one shield film of the MR type magnetic serves as one core of the induction type magnetic head, by eliminating the curvature of the write gap. CONSTITUTION: Leads 30 and 31 are thicker in film thickness than an MR element 28 and steps 52 and 54 are formed at the boundary between the leads 30 and 31 and an MR element sense part 28a. An upper gap 32 is filmed to constant film thickness, the part where the steps 52 and 54 are transferred is curved, and a recessed 56 is formed on the top surface. An upper shield and lower core 34 has a projection 58 formed by transferring the recess 56 on the top surface of the upper gap 32, but the top surface 70 is formed into a flat surface parallel to the MR element 28. Therefore, a write gap 36 filmed thereupon is formed linearly in parallel to the MR element 28. |
