PURPOSE: To provide a data compressor with which stretch freedom can be applied to resources in a system and the reduction of storage capacity and the shortening of data storage time can be achieved while securing compatibility with an existent system. CONSTITUTION: Concerning the data compressor with which the contents of a memory 2 are compressed and stored in a storage device 6 according to system data stored in a system data storage means 4, this device is provided with an identification data storage means 8 and a decision means 10 for deciding whether a memory block is valid data or not for each memory block. When the decision means 8 decides the memory block of valid data in the case of storing the processing contents of the memory, the memory block of valid data is stored in the storage device 6 and the storage identification data of the memory block are stored in the identification data storage means 8.
