The non-metallic packaging has a vessel, in the shape of a cup, with a flat cap that fits over the top of the vessel. The cover can be removed and refitted as the user wishes. The top edge of the vessel is bent to form a rigid rim. The edge of the cap has a raised ring (3) forming a recess to clip over the rim of the cup. A thermofusible "hot-melt" adhesive is applied to the rim of the vessel or to the inside of the recess in the cap. The cap is pressed down and the adhesive heated with an ultrasonic generator to spread the adhesive. If tamper proof fastening is required, a few points of adhesive are used, while for full bacteria-proof sealing, the adhesive is applied right round the rim.
