PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a display device accurately display a designated optional position on a road map displayed. SOLUTION: This map display device is provided with a position designation means 5 which designates an optional position, a storage means 3 in which road map information is stored, an arithmetic processing device 10 which calculates position information based on the road map information read out of an output of the position designation means 5 and the storage means 3, and a display means 4 which displays the road map information read out of the storage means 3 and also displays an optional position obtained from the position information on the road map displayed, and the arithmetic processing device 10 compares the position obtained from the position designation means 5 with the position on the road obtained from the road map information, and a shortest distance road to the position indicated by the position information is selected and the optional position is corrected no as to be positioned on the selected road before displayed on a display device 4. |
