PURPOSE: To easily and quickly perform battery charging work without requiring any special vehicle driving technique by moving a power transmitting-side core from a reference end at the time of detecting relative position. CONSTITUTION: Battery charging work is performed after a power transmitting- side coupler 23 is moved to a position at which the coupler 23 is faced to a power receiving-side coupler 2 by means of a moving device. The position at which the couplers 2 and 23 can face each other is provided on the bottom face of an electric automobile 1 so that the couplers 2 and 23 can face each other in the vertical direction. From such a state, a power receiving-side core 3 and a power transmitting-side core 31 are brought into contact with each other by raising the coupler 23. At the same time, a battery is charged while a power transmitting-side coil 32 is housed in a housing section 4a formed in the power receiving-side coil 4.
