Obtained is a photo in which the subject is properly irradiated with the flashed light when effecting the diaphragm priority flash photographing. Further, photos exhibiting different effects are taken by flashed light. Provided in the diaphragm priority photographing is a second diaphragm setting circuit 10 for computing a measurement value of a distance up to a subject and a second diaphragm value from the guide number during an emission of flashed light. A diaphragm 8 is set to the computed second diaphragm value, and an electronic flash 11 is flashed with a desired aperture area. The diaphragm 8 is set to an initially set diaphragm value to effect the photographing at the time other than the emission of flashed light. Further, there may be provided a timing circuit for setting the diaphragm to the second diaphragm value. It is possible to increase or decrease the aperture area as a diaphragm matching with the quantity of flashed light and the distance up to the subject during the diaphragm priority flash photographing.
