The resistor has two ceramic core strips (1a,1b) that act as carriers for either resistive wire coils (2a,2b) or strip coils for high power applications. The coils are located in two chambers within a ceramic inner housing (4) that is then filled with a dry aluminium oxide powder that is compacted and is then baked. The unit is placed in a main housing (6) of aluminium alloy with aluminium oxide powder (5a,5b) filling the space as before. External connecting leads (8a,8b) are set into a filler (9).
