Pair-wise prodn. of copper@ electrorefining anodes - using casting wheel with pairs of inner and outer casting moulds

Simultaneous prodn. of two anode sheets for refining crude copper involves (a) sequentially casting molten crude copper into mould pairs of a horizontal casting wheel, each pair consisting of two radially successive, symmetrically arranged moulds; (b) allowing the melt to cool and solidify during rotation of the casting wheel; (c) removing the solidified anode sheets, by means of their suspension lugs, in pairs from the two moulds at a removal station; and (d) transferring the sheets, esp. after pivoting, into a common post-cooling chamber. Also claimed is a casting wheel (1) for carrying out the above process, two radially successive, symmetrically arranged casting moulds (3, 3') being provided in each sector (2) of the wheel (1) with the suspension lugs (9) of the anode sheets having a mirror image arrangement for simultaneous removal by a removal device (6).
