The knife (7) consists of a circular steel disc (9) sharpened on one side and rotatably carried by a holder (11) on the axis (13). A guide shoe (14) adjusts lockably at right angles to the axis. The knife rotates between the two parallel side legs (25) of the U-shaped holder. A bearing axis (19) fixed in the disc is carried at its ends clear of the disc in ball bearings (25,27) fixed on the side legs of the holder. The shoe is fixed adjustably to one leg (17). It has a slide edge (29) curved concentric or eccentric to the knife axis. A fixed arm (31) is moulded to the edge for fixer bolts (37,39) which in turn adjust within slots (43,45) at the bottom of the leg (41,17) so as to set the penetration of the disc, using screws (47,49) screwing onto the bolt ends to arrest the depth setting.
