AUTOMATIC SWIMMING POOL CLEANING SYSTEM

A pool (1) cleaning method and apparatus for selectively positioning a unitary body (6) either close to the water surface (7) or close to the bottom wall surface (8). In an exemplary embodiment, the body (6) rests at the bottom and the subsystem lifts the device to the water surface (7) for operation in a water surface cleaning mode to collect floating debris. A propulsion subsystem is preferably incorporated to move the body along the wall surface (8) and/or water surface (7). In a preferred embodiment, water flow through a hose (9) connected to a hydraulic pump (10) is used to place the body (6) at the wall surface (8) and/or water surface (7).
