1,149,170. Polymeric laminate. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 22 Sept., 1966 [24 Sept., 1965], No. 42360/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B2] A polymeric laminate comprises two or more alternating layers (a) and (b) tightly adhered together, in which each layer (a) comprises a normally solid polyolefin and each layer (b) comprises a block copolymer of general formula A-B-A in which each A is an independently selected polymer block of a monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon, the said polymer block A having an average molecular weight of between 8000 and 45,000, and B is a polymer block of a conjugated diene hydrocarbon, the said polymer block B having an average molecular weight of between 35,000 and 150,000, the total polymer block A content being less than 38% by weight of the block copolymer and for each 100 parts by weight of said copolymer block 20 to 100 parts by weight of a polymer of at least one olefine having 2 to 3 carbon atoms per molecule. Specified polyolefines are polyethylene and polypropylene. Specified monovinyl aromatic monomers are styrene, vinyl toluene and vinyl xylene. Specified olefine polymers are polyethylene, polypropylene and copolymers of ethylene with vinyl acetate. The block copolymer or composition thereof may be applied to the polyolefine as a coating or as a preformed layer.
|
