The heat exchange plates (1,2) form alternate ducts for heat transfer and reception media by peripheral seals (6). The ducts can be supplied by the respective medium via aligned inlet and outlet ports in the heat exchange plates. The latter are clamped in a plate pack, with the profiled peak sections of two adjacent plates supporting each other. In the assembled position the peripheral seals contain peripheral fluted groove on the medium engaged side, forming top and bottom sealing lips pressed against the heat exchange plates, thus provided the required tightness.
