A pressure plate for a hydraulic press mfg. panels in various materials has an internal heating and cooling system formed of circular section pipes(2) which run to and fro across the plate and are connected at the ends by U-bends to form a continuous pipe from an inlet to an outlet. Gaps between adjacent pipes house filler pieces(5) which are also connected to the upper (7) and lower(9) plates. Space between the upper face of each pipe(2) and the upper plate(7) are occupied by profiled pressure pads(17) which may also contact the filler pieces(5).
