The tag or label (1) reproduces the recorded vocal message when the housing is pressed and can be hung round the animal's neck or hung on its collar. Typically, the tag comes in all geometrical shapes and colours. The tag incorporates a plastics casing microphone and miniature loudspeaker and front pin which has to be withdrawn a little to record the message and which reproduces it when first depressed and then when pressed in a second time plays the recorded vocal message as a correctness check. The pin is then pressed fully in so as to activate the reproduction mode and also seal the interior, thus preventing any mistaken erasure of the recorded vocal message.
