The gearbox has several layshafts (13,14), and the input shaft (11) carries non-rotary gearwheels (17-20,22) for the forward speeds. Speed gearwheels (24-27,30,31) are loosely located on the layshafts, and mesh with those on the input shaft. Slide sockets (23,28,32,34) connect the loose speed gearwheels non-rotatably to the layshafts. On the layshafts are non-rotatably fitted output gearwheels (29,35), meshing with a non-rotary output gearwheel on the output shaft (12). The drive gearwheel (19) of the fifth speed is fitted at the input shaft end, away from the drive engine (16), and meshes with the loose gearwheel (30) of this speed.
