The bumper forms an air channel into which is fitted a reversibly deformable hollow body (5) into which air is directed. The hollow body is formed as a tube and is made of elastic material. A component (7) is provided on the bumper and/or on a part fixed to the chassis and penetrates the outer contour of the hollow body when the bumper is displaced, thereby ensuring a definite deformation of the body. Cross-sectionally the hollow body may have varying rigidity, or made of different materials, or have different wall thicknesses.
