End seal arrangement for an arrangement to apply a coating to paper and cardboard. The coating arrangement comprises a doctor blade 2 for portioning and evening out the coating mixture intended to be applied over a moveable surface, such as a web 17 or a roll 1, a lengthwise application chamber situated immediately in front of the doctor blade 2, whose one side is constituted by the moveable surface 1, 17, a limiting element 9, which closes the front edge of the application chamber so that a lengthwise slit is formed between the doctor blade 2 and the limiting element 9, extending towards the moveable surface 1, 17, for feeding of the coating mixture onto the moveable surface, and elements 15 for feeding of the coating mixture in the application chamber. According to the invention, the ends of the application chamber are sealed with seals 10, both of which comprise at least one elastic lip 12 directed toward the application chamber in such a way that the excess pressure in the chamber presses the lip 12 against the surface which bounds off the application chamber. <IMAGE>
