PURPOSE: To control effectively the temperature of a recording head after a power supply is turned OFF and also to lessen power consumption at the time of turning-OFF of the power supply to the utmost by calculating a time required until a state of thermal balance of the recording head is reached and by executing a temperature control of the recording head until the calculated time passes. CONSTITUTION: Although a recording head is constructed of a large number of members in combination which are different in a thermal time constant, strictly speaking, it can be handled as a single heat conducting member practically in a range wherein a differential value of the function of a passing time regarding a value obtained by logarithmic transformation of data on a rise of temperature, i.e., in the spheres shown by A, B and C respectively wherein the slant of a curve is fixed. By determining the transition of temperature by considering as one unit each of these spheres wherein the head can be handled as the single heat conducting member, in other words, the transition of the temperature of the recording head reckoned as the whole of the spheres can be measured. |
