PRODUCTION OF A MAGNESIUM PRODUCT FROM A MAGNESITE ORE

A process for the production of a magnesium product from an ore containing magnesite which process includes providing a magnesite-containing ore; and a source of acid subjecting the magnesite-containing ore to a first partial acid digestion at a pharmaceutical generally constant actual pH and subjecting the partially digested product to a final acid digestion wherein the indicated pH is permitted to rise to an approximately neutral value.
