PURPOSE: To prevent the flotation of sludge and to keep the concn. of sludge in an anaerobic reaction tank high to enhance treatment efficiency by allowing floatable granular sludge in a treated liquid to flow out and efficiently recovering the outflow sludge without lowering the activity thereof and crushing the same to re-store sedimentation properties to return the crushed sludge to an anaerobic reaction tank. CONSTITUTION: The treated liquid 16 anaerobically treated in a UASB type anaerobic reaction tank 1 is introduced into a flotation separation tank 20 having a hermetically closed structure and fine bubbles of the digested gas 21 pressurized by a blower 43 is introduced thereinto and sludge is separated by flotation separation. The separated sludge is crushed by a crushing pump 24 to restore the sedimentation properties of the sludge and the crushed sludge is returned to the anaerobic reaction tank 1.
