<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts and the cost by integrating a vibration absorbing structure in a steering column for an automobile with a stroke absorbing structure of a shaft. SOLUTION: An upper shaft 2 which is turnably supported by a jacket tube 1 to be fixed to a vehicle body and pivotably fits a steering wheel to an upper end part is connected to an intermediate shaft to be connected to a steering gear box through a universal coupling 6. A steering column is provided with a lower shaft 5 to be anomalously fitted to the upper shaft 2 with the prescribed length, an elastic body 8 to be inserted in a fitting part of the upper shaft 2 to the lower shaft 5 in the constantly pressed condition, and a collar 7 which is interposed at least between the elastic body 8 and the upper shaft 2 or between the elastic body 8 and the lower shaft 5, and slidable in the axial direction between the collar 7 and the upper shaft 2 or the lower shaft 5.</p> |
