PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material capable of obtaining sufficient gradation properties and high density within a range from a region low in the applied energy of a thermal head to a region high therein by a simple method. SOLUTION: In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal color forming layer based on a leuco dye, a coupler allowing the leuco dye to form a color under heating and a binder resin being a binder is provided on a support and a protective layer is further provided thereon, the binder resin in the thermal color forming layer is set to 25wt.% or more per the total solid and contains two or more kinds of binder resins different in glass transition point.
