PURPOSE: To perform a moth-proofing treatment durable to light irradiation, cleaning, etc., over a long period by selecting a specific compound as a moth- controlling agent and dipping wool or a wool product in an acidic water bath containing the compound. CONSTITUTION: Wool or a wool product is immersed in an acidic water bath containing N-5-methylchromane-6-carbo-N'-t-butyl-N'-3,5-diemthylbenzoylhydrazine of formula. The bath temperature in the immersion treatment is preferably 20-130 deg.C. The amount of the compound of formula to be added to the wool is preferably 0.0005-0.05wt.% based on the weight of the wool or wool product to be treated. The compound of formula may be added as it is to the acidic water bath (pH2-6), however, the compound is usually added in the form of an emulsion, etc. The wool vermin controlled by this process is e.g. casemaking clothes moth, webbing clothes moth, carpet moth, black carpet beetle, varied carpet beetle, etc. |
