PURPOSE: To provide a color recording apparatus capable of performing recording even when ink of a desired color is exhausted by effectively utilizing residual ink. CONSTITUTION: The residual amt. of the ink of each color remaining in an ink tank IT is always monitored by an ink residual amt. detection sensor 1711 to be transmitted to an MPU 1701. Recording data or color designated data is received from a host through an interface 1700. When inks of all of colors do not remain, residual ink is used to perform monochromatic recording on the basis of the received color designated data or the data from the ink residual amt. detection sensor 1711 according to a designated recording mode or the color of the residual ink is investigated and control is performed so as to perform recording by the investigated residual ink. |
