A protection apparatus for TV set warns the user that a control voltage is maintained at a maximum level for a constant time, and automatically turns off the system(e.g., TV, TVCR, VCR). The protection apparatus includes: image signal detector for detecting a control data for embodying the image among the output data of the remote-controller; a microprocessor operated by the output data of the image signal detector; a pulse width modulator for performing a pulse width modulation about the output data of the microprocessor; D/A converter for converting the output digital data of the pulse width modulator to an analog signal; a sensing means for sensing a maximum level of the output voltage of the D/A converter; a display means for displaying a maximum level of the output voltage of the D/A converter; a timer for performing a counting operation and outputting a counting value; a comparator for comparing the output data of the timer with a reference data and outputting a predetermined data; and a power-supply control part being operated by the output data of the comparator, for controlling an operation power of a system.
