PURPOSE: To execute recording rationally in correspondence with a state of mounting of a recording head, in recording equipment whereon a plurality of recording heads can be mounted. CONSTITUTION: A carriage 3 whereon two recording heads can be mounted is provided with switches 3h and 3h' for detection which detect mounting of the recording heads respectively, and when it is detected that either the right or left recording head is not mounted, the range of movement of the carriage 3 is controlled so that the entire recording can be performed by the recording head mounted. |
