PURPOSE: To improve machining precision and finishing precision by comprising the specific % by weight of Zn and the rest of Cu substantially and setting the composition in an area mainly taking aβphase. CONSTITUTION: A quantity of Zn is increased, and one/two kind/kinds of metal/ metals in Al, Si, Sn, Ti, Fe, Zr, Mn, Cr, Ni, Ag, Co is/are added to Zn. In this case, the composition consists of 41-60% by weight of Zn and the substantially rest of Cu in an area whose structure consists in aβphase. In the concrete, an electrode wire is produced of alloy consisting of 41-60% by weight of Zn, 0.03-2.0% by weight of additive metal/metals, and the rest of Cu substantially. If a Zn content is lower than 41% by weight, strength is lowered, and as a result, an electric discharge characteristic is deteriorated. Reversely, if it exceeds 60% by weight, a wire drawing workability is greatly lowered.
