1,180,294. Making aluminium foil. ALUMINUM CO. OF AMERICA. 21 March, 1967 [29 March, 1966], No. 13318/67. Heading B3A. [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] A method of making aluminium capacitor electrode foil comprises heating a body composed of at least 99À45% aluminium to at least 950‹ F., and cold-rolling the body to provide the foil by reducing the body thickness by at least 85%. The preferred temperature range for heating the body is 1000-1150‹ F. and the body is kept at the selected temperature for at least two hours. The body may be hot-rolled and annealed between heating and coldrolling which results in extra hard temper for the foil. The foil is etched in the hard condition after cold-rolling and may be annealed subsequently without any substantial loss in capacitance. When intended for use as an anode, the etched foil is anodized. |
