PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound serving as a raw material for synthesizing new quinolone-based synthetic antimicrobial agents. CONSTITUTION: This new compound is expressed by formula I [R<1> is a (substituted) benzyl(oxycarboxyl), (substituted) diphenylmethyl(oxycarbonyl) or (substituted) triphenylmethyl(oxycarbonyl)], e.g. 3-benzyl-6-t- butoxycarbonylamino-2,4-dioxo-3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane of formula II. This new compound is obtained by subjecting a carboxylic acid derivative of formula III to Crutius rearrangement. Examples of the above synthetic antimicrobial agent include 7-(1α,5α,6α)-(6-amino-3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hex-3-yl)-1-(2,4- difluorophenyl)-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-1,8-naphthylidine-3-carboxylic acid of formula IV. |
