Prepn. of (cyclo)aliphatic triisocyanates of the formula R(NCO)3 (I) (where R = a (cyclo)aliphatic hydrocarbon gp. with up to 22C) by phosgenating the corresp. triamines of the formula R(NH2)3 (II) comprises: (a) reacting (II) vapour, which is heated to 200-600 degrees C and opt. diluted with an inert gas or inert solvent vapour, and COCl2 heated to 200-600 degrees C, in a cylindrical reaction zone without moving pts., in which a flow of not less than 3 m/s is maintained; (b) cooling the gas mixt. leaving this zone in an inert liquid solvent kept at a temp. above the decomposition temp. of the carbamoyl chloride corresp. to (II), giving a soln. of (I) in this solvent; and (c) working (I) up by distn. |
