摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image receiving sheet further improved in the transfer properties of the ink layer of a thermal transfer sheet to an image receiving layer and capable of forming a good image. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet has an ink layer with a thickness of 0.2-1.0μm containing 30-70wt.% of pigment and 25-65wt.% of an amorphous org. high-molecular polymer with a softening point of 40-150 deg. and the ink layer thereof is transferred to an image receiving sheet by thermal transfer to form an image. In this method, the image receiving sheet is composed of a laminate consisting of a support composed of a plastic sheet having fine air bubbles provided therein and an image receiving layer. The image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet is superposed on the ink layer of the thermal transfer sheet and a thermal head is pressed to the transfer sheet from the rear surface thereof and a transfer image of which the optical reflection density is constituted of area gradation of 1.0 or more is formed on the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet. The ink layer of the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet are brought to a close contact state to obtain a laminate.
