PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet recorder automatically excluding residual ink from a recording head at the time of separating the head from an ink tank. CONSTITUTION: This ink jet recorder comprises a recording head 1, a detachable ink tank 2 at the head, a tank attachment or detachment detecting means 20, 21 for detecting the attachment or detachment of the tank to or from the head, and a control means for so controlling the discharge of the residual ink from the head according to the ink tank trip detection signal. |
