<p>The machine travel chassis has a rotary digging tool (6) forming a furrow in the ground and a transverse conveyor (18) receiving and discharging the spoil from it. A feed mechanism (4, 5, 5') delivers the plants into the furrow. The tool rotates on a transverse axis (9), and has a number of radial blades (10). Above the tool is a deflector plate (11), extending at least nearly as far as the conveyor, also forming a front limit to the path (12) along which the spoil travels between the tool and the conveyor. The distance in the vertical direction between the tool axis and the conveyor can be less than 50 and preferably less than 20cm., and the tool can rotate at 50 rpm at least.</p> |
